The posts on this site are from Susan McGee’s spring 2010 English Composition course at SUNY Fredonia. This site represents the community writing portion of their research and composition. Each of the students researched an area of their own interest under the overarching subject of “sustainability”. They gathered research from a variety of sources including books, academic journals, popular magazines, and websites. Then, the students used their research to compose two different writing projects: an academic composition, using the conventions and formatting of a traditional research paper, and a writing project in which they convey their findings to the local community using a writing format better suited to reaching and engaging a broader audience. This website serves as a forum for their community-based writing projects. The students will also present their projects as part of SUNY Fredonia’s annual Earth Week events. Each post on this site includes the student’s overview of their research process, the research sources they used, and a link to their writing project.
